Alex
Alex 來自美國，畢業自威斯康辛大學麥迪遜分校，主修人類學，同時熱愛經濟、哲學與歷史。畢業後來到台灣，成為專職的英文老師，擁有國際認可的英語教學執照 CELTA，累計有7年以上教學經驗。教學之餘喜歡寫作，最喜歡的電影是《刺激1995》。

英文時事討論 News discussion
以國際時事作為討論主題，學員將能培養國際觀，並補充時下流行的知識 (big ideas and new terminology)，教材選自 BBC, Times, The Guardian 等重要媒體，選文涉及豐富的主題：

- 科技發展與環境保護
- 藝文、運動、健康 ‧‧‧
表達能力 Express your opinion
本課程的目標是提高你的英語表達能力，老師將創造大量練習的機會，並適時提出糾正與建議，以增進你的英語表達能力。

進行方式
課前準備
老師將於課前給予當週材料，每週一篇(準備時間約20分鐘)。同時，老師將給予一些問題或是觀點，幫助你在課前就能夠開始思考當週主題。
課堂進行
課堂以討論的方式進行，學員發言時間約為課程時間之70%，老師將透過提問的方式引導討論的進行。老師將適時講解重要的單字、片語與觀念。

I really enjoyed Alex class and really learned o lot from him. 這堂課肯定有機會開口說英文，但我覺得寶貴的是可以學到美國人思考邏輯，上課文章有政治、經濟、科技、醫療等，每次都能從ALEX那邊聽到一些美國人思考邏輯，相對於台灣人來說非常跳躍的，ALEX也引導我們除了新聞的論點以外，我們可以再跳躍的思考哪些層面。希望下次能再參與critical thinking class!

This time our discussion went further from NIMBY (not in my backyard), automation at the workplace (textile industry), school technologies, housing justice to escalating conflict between the US and Iran (assassination of the Iranian most powerful General). Alex would give abundant materials few days before a session, encouraging students to read over them for discussion, which may give a participant an opportunity to improve the skills of scheduling and reading. He is always open-minded about topics he's familiar with, e.g. politics, economics, etc. For those who are familiar with or interested in the fileds AND wants to improve a little bit more on English speaking with the already-quite-good base, you should be seriously considering Alex's class.
