This course is designed specially for doctors working in Taiwan, to help them treat patients in English. It was designed by myself, through Oxford Brookes University in the UK, and is based on interviews with real Taiwanese doctors.

I found that doctors in Taiwan know English medical terms very well, but find live conversation challenging. Doctors might also struggle with pronunciation, and they may not have enough opportunities to practice speaking. I also found that real doctors use a very different kind of English when talking with patients, to make them more comfortable. This is a very different style to what you may have learnt in textbooks.

We will study the language that real native English-speaking doctors use with patients. This includes their grammar, pronunciation, and intonation. The language used will be helpful for all medical departments: whether you are a cardiologist or an ophthalmologist, you will be able to use what you learn in this course.
