MDT Participant Guide

Welcome to My Dear Teacher. This guide covers everything you need to know before and during your time with us.

What MDT Is

MDT is a place for serious, stimulating conversation. Small groups of 3-5 people meet weekly with a facilitator to explore meaningful topics together — in English.

MDT is not an English school. We don't teach grammar, correct mistakes, or measure progress. English is simply the language we think in together. It's not a language exchange or a networking event — it's a place where people who are already comfortable in English come to think together about things that matter to them.

There are no certificates. No progress reports. No levels to advance through. Just good conversations with thoughtful people, week after week. If that sounds like what you're looking for — welcome.

Before you join — participants must be 18 or older. Our discussions are held entirely in English at a B2+/C1 level. You should be comfortable joining extended conversations without needing translation or simplification.

What Makes MDT Different

Small groups

3 to 5 participants. Everyone has a voice.

75 minutes

Long enough for ideas to develop, short enough to stay focused.

3 weeks

You meet the same group weekly. Ideas build, trust forms, conversations deepen.

No corrections

Your facilitator won't correct your grammar or vocabulary. This isn't that kind of space.

How It Works

MDT has three levels:

Topic — what you'll discuss. Each topic has a title, description, sample questions, and a "this might interest you if..." blurb to help you decide if it's for you.
Course — a scheduled run of a topic. A course has a specific venue, day/time, and group of participants. The same topic may run as multiple courses at different times.
Meeting — a single 75-minute gathering within a course. A standard course has 3 meetings, one per week.

So: a topic can have many courses, and a course has 3 meetings.

Enrolling

When you browse MDT, you'll see courses listed with their topic, facilitator, schedule, and venue. To enroll, you'll need a verified email address. Each course shows a status badge:

Status	What it means
Open	Accepting enrollment. You can cancel freely at this stage
Confirmed	3+ participants have joined. Everyone is committed — no dropping, no refunds
Full	All five spots are taken

The 5-day safety net — if a course hasn't reached 3 participants by 5 days before the first meeting, we cancel it and return your full payment. You won't be left waiting until the last moment.

Before We Meet

Your facilitator may provide prep content for each meeting — a reading, a podcast, a reflection prompt, anything that helps you arrive with something to think about.

Not every meeting will have it — some facilitators prefer you come fresh
It's not homework. There's no quiz. It's a way to warm up your thinking before the conversation

Venues & Logistics

MDT meets at Treerful meeting rooms across Taipei. Current locations are listed on each course page when you browse or enroll.

Getting in

After you enroll, you'll receive venue details on your dashboard and by email
Each meeting has a Treerful link with the room number and access passcode
The passcode works 5 minutes before your reserved time — plan to arrive around then

If venue details change

Room changes are rare, but if they happen, you'll be notified on your dashboard and by email as soon as we know.

What to Expect in a Meeting

This is a discussion, not a class. There's no lecture, no slides, no grades.

Your facilitator guides the conversation — they ask questions, create space for different perspectives, and keep things moving. But the thinking is yours. Expect to talk, listen, and be surprised by what others bring to the table.

Refund & Wallet
