MDT — Frequently Asked Questions

Enrollment

Can I join a course after it's already started?
No. Once a course begins, the group is set. You're welcome to enroll in a future run of the same topic.

Can I switch to a different course?
While your current course is still Open (fewer than 3 enrolled), you can cancel and enroll in another. Once the course is Confirmed, you're committed.

Can I enroll in more than one course at a time?
Yes. Each course runs independently — different topic, different group, different schedule.

I enrolled but the course was cancelled. What happens?
If a course doesn't reach 3 participants by 5 days before the first meeting, we cancel it and return your full payment to your wallet.

Commitment & Attendance

What if I can't make one of the meetings?
We understand life happens. But we're unable to offer makeup meetings, adjustments, or partial refunds. Your group will feel your absence — that's the nature of a 3-5 person discussion.

Can I drop out after the course is Confirmed?
No. Once 3 or more people have enrolled, everyone is committed. This protects the group — one person leaving changes the experience for everyone.

What if I'm running late?
Come anyway. Your facilitator will handle it at their discretion.

The Discussion

Will my English be corrected?
No. MDT is not a language class. Your facilitator won't correct grammar, vocabulary, or pronunciation. English is the language we use, not the subject.

Do I need to prepare before each meeting?
It depends on the course. Your facilitator may provide optional prep content ("Before we meet") — a reading, a podcast, a question to think about. If nothing is posted, just show up.

What if I don't know much about the topic?
That's fine. MDT discussions are about exploring ideas together, not demonstrating expertise. If the topic description and sample questions interest you, you'll have something to contribute.

Is there a test or placement before I join?
No. MDT trusts you to know your own English level. Our discussions are held entirely in English — if you're comfortable following and contributing to extended conversations without translation or simplification, you're welcome here.

After the Course

Can I take the same topic again?
Yes. Each course is a separate group with different participants. The conversation will be different every time.

Can I stay in touch with my group?
MDT doesn't manage group chats or contact exchanges. But if you'd like to stay connected with people from your group, you're free to exchange contact information with each other.

Is there a certificate or record of completion?
No. MDT doesn't issue certificates, progress reports, or completion records.

Venues

Where do meetings take place?
MDT currently uses two locations: Guting and NanJingFuXing. Both are private meeting rooms.

How do I get into the room?
After you enroll, you'll receive a Treerful link on your dashboard and by email with the room number and access passcode. The passcode works 5 minutes before your reserved time.

Can I arrive early?
The room passcode activates 5 minutes before the reserved time. Plan to arrive around then.

Payment & Refunds

How does pricing work?
Courses are priced per course, not per meeting. The price is the same for all courses.

When can I get a refund?
Before a course is Confirmed (fewer than 3 enrolled), you can cancel anytime for a full refund to your wallet. After confirmation, refunds are not available. See the full details in our participant guide.

Are there any fees for cashing out my wallet?
No. We absorb the bank transfer costs. You'll need a minimum balance of NT$300, your bank account details, and about 5-7 business days for processing.

What if the facilitator can't continue the course?
If a facilitator has to withdraw, the entire course is cancelled and all participants receive a full refund.

Other

Is there a group chat for my course?
No. MDT keeps things simple — your dashboard and email handle all logistics and updates. Connections beyond that happen organically, on your own terms.

How do I contact MDT if something comes up?
Reach out to us directly. MDT is small by design, and a direct message is always the right channel.

Is there an age requirement?
Yes — participants must be 18 or older.
