Alex非常嫻熟於課程討論的主題，並且會提出相關其他的資料協助說明他的論述或同學們的論點。課堂前會收到文章，文章會有幾個引導的問題，可以透過那些問題掌握文章重點。部分的問題可能需要自己上網搜尋一些資料看一下，但就算你對這些問題並沒有想法或沒有做更進一步的探索，課堂上如實輕鬆的對答就好，並不必感到有什麼壓力。這堂課雖不專注在單字或文法，但是課堂一開始Alex一定會先問大家對於文章的那些單字或文法有疑惑，可以提出來，他會花時間解釋。Alex不會著重在糾正口說上的錯誤，而且更鼓勵大家盡力用自己的話表達想法。非常推薦想要增加視野的人參加這堂課，very informative！

在MDT上上過幾門課，Alex的課是我覺得最最棒，也最喜歡的。Alex除了本身閱讀非常多材料，每次上課都有源源不絕的東西可以分享之外，也很會引導學生的討論。無論多長、多艱深的文章，Alex都會幫忙摘要到2頁以內，並附上4-5題上課過程中一定會討論到的題目，不僅大大降低學生上課前閱讀備課的負擔，也讓學生可以事前先針對題目想過，上課時比較不會臨時缺乏話題想法，無法參與討論。每次上課都會學到很多超越語言本身的知識，拓寬了自己的界限，絕對是MDT上我最推薦的老師及課程!

I really appreciate the way Alex led the discussion. No matter how long the article is, Alex always helped to summarize it into 2 pages along with 4-5 questions for students to think about before the class - that greatly reliefs the pressures of students in preparation work. Alex is very knowledgeable and his class is also inspirational. I always learnt something new from each class, which broadens my horizon. This is definitely the best class I've taken in the recent years. Highly recommend it!

I learned a lot from Alex's teaching, particularly Marx's depiction of the abstract labor, reification of social relations, industrial reserve army, the bewitched, enchanted, distorted and upside-down world where we are living as well as state and capital.

This Is America: A Critical Look at the United States
Every session includes a few readings. Students need to prepare before starting the discussion, or they will have difficulties answering Alex's questions. The topics are all special and can provide insight into one aspect of the US – a compelling opportunity for anyone curious about exploring this unique superpower. Btw, Alex has extensive knowledge about the US so students can feel free to ask him any questions during the class.
